Four Points by Sheraton Catania Hotel****
As I always say, I always consider four elements when choosing accommodation, more specifically in this order of importance:
- cleanliness,
- location,
- structure/comfort, and
- service/staff.
Going on this fourth hotel mini-review, here are the reasons why I chose this property for some days in Catania.
Disclaimer: this is an honest and personal review of my stay, as a regular paying customer, not a sponsored partnership.
Cleanliness
Perfectly clean room.
Location
My goal here was slightly different than my usual city trips. Since it was the first stop on a road-trip around eastern Sicily, I was more interested in staying near the sea relaxing than in the middle of the hustle and bustle of chaotic Catania.
That meant staying quite far out of the center. Coming from Fontanarossa Airport, going even further than Catania, in the direction of Aci Castelo.
TIP: Sheraton offers a shuttle service to and from the city center. Just schedule at the reception to secure your spot.
Note that the last shuttle back to the hotel is around 8pm. So for an easy-going sightseeing day in the center of Catania, it's actually more convenient to leave the car in the garage. But if you go to town for dinner, you'll have to return by taxi.
Structure & Comfort
Four Points by Sheraton Catania Hotel is spacious, has an open-air pool, spa and gym. Located right in front of a rocky beach, it has a passage-way under the road for guests leading to a private "beach". Which means a sun terrace with steps into the clear waters.
There are many sun loungers spread around the sun terrace and around the pool. However, during high season, you might not find a place if you wait too long after breakfast.
Lastly, since it's far from the center, it also features several dining options on site: Il Timo Bistrot, Il Melograno Bar, and a pool bar.

Service & Staff Friendliness
Very courteous staff, everyone greets you with a smile. Breakfast is also really good, with a great and international selection, in addition to Sicilian treats, like cannoli.
BALANCE
Considering the great levels of cleanliness, structure, and services, as well as a relaxed beach environment not many kilometers away from Catania, I recommend it. This is a great cost/benefit for the first or last days of an eastern Sicily trip. Thumbs up
